The Fairbanks Parking Authority (FPA) is authorized under the City of Fairbanks Code of Ordinances, Sec. 2-201 and works with the City to try and promote accurate and simple signage, encourage the free flow of traffic, and monitor parking regulations. Authority for parking enforcement of Fairbanks parking ordinances is delegated to the Fairbanks Parking Authority, in an area of the city defined by agreement. The council, by ordinance, may amend or revoke this delegation at any time. Subject to confirmation by the Fairbanks City Council, an employee of the Fairbanks City public works or engineering, with expertise in parking issues or traffic engineering, will be appointed to a seat on the parking authority board of directors.
If you receive a Parking Violations, there are instructions on the back of the citation regarding payment of fines and also a form to request a hearing to appeal the citation.
The FPA also operates the Fairbanks Downtown Transportation Center, a 5 story, 300+ space parking garage at Second Avenue and Lacey Street. The FPA office is located on the first floor of the Downtown Transportation Center.
