KEEPING BUSINESS
ROLLING!
The Fairbanks Parking Authority is working hard to try
and keep businesses rolling in the Downtown area. The street layout is from the early 1900’s
when such things as commercial loading zones were not even thought of! With all the retail and food service
businesses needing deliveries, it is important that people understand the rules
about who may use the commercial loading zones.
The City code says that commercial vehicles should be actively loading
or unloading, must not exceed the 30 minutes and should have a commercial sign
on the vehicle. In an effort to assist
the smaller businesses, we have an existing policy which permits non-signed
vehicles to use the loading zones and to identify themselves as short-term
parking by using their flashers or hazard lights.
